Seachem Matrix – High-Capacity Bio Filter Media
Seachem Matrix is a revolutionary biological filtration media designed to provide superior biofiltration for the removal of nitrogenous waste. Unlike plastic bio-media that only offer external surface area, Matrix provides both external and internal macroporous surface area, allowing for the growth of both nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria.
Each liter of Matrix offers over 700 m² of surface area—equivalent to 170 liters of plastic bio-balls. This makes it one of the most efficient and compact biological media available. Matrix is completely inert, will not break down, and does not need to be replaced. It is compatible with all types of filters, including canister, hang-on-back, sump, and wet/dry systems.

Available Sizes:

Directions for Use:
Use 250 mL of Matrix for every 200 L (50 US gallons) of aquarium water. Place directly in the filter or sump. Rinse before use. For best results, use with Seachem Stability® to establish the biofilter quickly. Rinse periodically to remove debris without harming the bacteria colony.
