Palam Lohit is a high-yielding red onion cultivar known for its attractive deep purple bulbs and early maturity.
This variety is ideal for both spring onion harvesting and full bulb development. It features a narrow neck and flat-globe shape, preferred in Indian markets. With moderate resistance to downy mildew and excellent bolting tolerance, it’s suitable for Kharif and late Kharif seasons.
Growing Instructions:
- Sow seeds in seedling trays; transplant after 30–35 days
- Spacing: 4–6 feet between rows; 4–6 inches between plants
- Sunlight: Minimum 3–4 hours daily
- Soil Mix: Red soil, vermicompost, coco peat (40:40:20)
- Apply compost every 10–15 days; spray neem oil & Panchagavya
- First harvest: 100–105 days after transplanting
